Express sign LB-Karl Walker (Youngstown State University) for 2022

The Erie Express are pleased to announce the signing of LB-Karl Walker (Youngstown State University) for the 2022 season. Karl begins his first season with the Express and will compete for a spot in the defensive rotation as a linebacker/defensive end. 

Walker is a graduate of Kittanning High School where he as an all conference performer in both football and basketball. Karl earned All-Conference honors in both sports and was selected to play in the Cager Classic Basketball All-Star Game his Senior year. Karl was voted a team captain by his coaches and teammates and led the team in sacks his junior and senior years from his linebacker position. 

Upon graduation Karl spent one season at Hargrave Military Academy before walking on at Marshall University. Karl was one of 20 Hargrave players to later attend D1 programs that season. Karl finished his college career at Youngstown State University. 

"Karl has great size and God given athletic ability. He has a great team first attitude and with is previous playing background and family tradition of excellence we are certain he will be a great addition for us this season. Karl's family has a deep history of former pro and collegiate football players. His cousin Gus Frerotte played multiple seasons in the NFL as a quarterback. Uncle Mitch Frerotte, a former guard at Penn State and a four-year NFL veteran who played in the Super Bowl with the Buffalo Bills, father Ed played middle linebacker at Wake Forest. His brother Kraig played for Indiana of Pennsylvania and brother Kent played for Kent State University. Both Karl and Kent are signed to play for us this season.
