Week 3 Match Up

This Saturday the #2 ranked Erie Express looks to remain undefeated as they host the Pittsburgh Buccaneers in week three action of the GDFL season. This is a match up of fellow Xtreme West Division rivals with first place in the division on the line. 

The high powered Buccaneers offense come into the contest averaging 389 yards of offense per game. They have impressive victories over the Lake Erie Explosion 68-0 and Steel City Bobcats 18-7. Bucs QB Bryon Clifford comes into the game ranked 3rd in the GDFL with 463 yards passing on the season. The Bucs defense is equally impressive allowing only one score thus far in 2021. 

Erie's offense has averaged 246 yards per game. The defense has yet to be scored on in two previous games. The Express bring an undefeated record into the game after wins against two 2019 playoff teams Cleveland Cobras 47-0 (GDFL Playoffs) and 2019 (PAFL Champion) #5 GDFL ranked WPA Wildcatz 25-6. Erie's only points given up this year came on an errant snap recovered and returned versus the Wildcatz. Express running back Donte Harden leads the GDFL in rushing touchdowns (4). 

This will be the third meeting of the two teams with Erie winning both games in 2017 by a combined 36-9. The Buccaneers last played in 2018 and were back to back champions of the PFL (2017,2018) going undefeated in league play. Erie has won back to back Xtreme East Division titles and has appeared in the GDFL Xtreme Conference Finals in each of the past two seasons. (2018,2019) 

#1 in the Xtreme West Division is on the line. Will the third time be the charm for the Bucs? Find out this Saturday at Saxson Stadium on the beautiful campus of Mercyhurst University. 

Kickoff is set for 5pm with intros starting at 4:45.
