The Erie Express are pleased to announce the return of Offensive Coordinator Denton Sauers for the 2023 season. Denton begins his 12th season with the Express and his fifth as a coach.

Sauers has served as the Wide Receivers coach for two seasons and as our offensive coordinator the past two. In those 4 seasons as a coach, Sauers has been part of an impressive 4 division titles, 3 conference finals appearances, a conference championship, regional championship, GDFL National Championship, USA Bowl Summer Division National Championship, 4 National Playoff appearances and a team record of 41-6 during that time. In 2021 the Express had the top ranked offense in the nation.

This January Denton will lead our offense as we look to defend last years USA Bowl Summer Division National Championship against the Minneapolis Warriors who also won a National Championship in the  Spring Division in 2022.

Denton is a graduate of Fort LeBouef High School and played his college ball for Westminster College. Sauers was part of our first season where we won the GIFA Championship playing as the Erie Outlaws. Denton was named PAFL All-Pro during the 2016 season and selected as one of the Semi Pro Elite top 25 Players in the nation as a punter.

"Denton has done an amazing job for us both as a player and a coach. He works hand in hand with our skilled guys and puts them in the best position to succeed week in and week out. Last season was difficult as we had a revolving door at some key positions but he did a great job of making sure we were ready, had a plan and executed it to the best of our abilities. We feel great having him in charge of the offense and look forward to what 2023 has in store"-Director of Operations Paul Pennington.
