King Returns in 2023

The Erie Express are pleased to announce the return of Corey King as our Head Football Coach. Coach King begins his fourth season with the Express. The past 3 seasons Coach King has served as our Assistant Head Coach, defensive coordinator and head coach. 

In his first season as the head coach of the Express, Coach King led us to a 9-3 record, 2022 USA Bowl National Championship, GDFL Eastern Xtreme North Division Championship, GDFL National Playoffs. In January of 2023 we will look to defend last year's Summer National Championship  Bowl Game against another National Champion Bowl Game winner in the Minneapolis Warriors.

In the past three seasons we finished with the #1 and #2 ranked defense in the league (2019, 2021) , an overall record of 30-5, 3 division championships, 2 conference finals appearances, a region championship and a National Championship National Bowl Game Championship and 3 playoff appearances. Coach King played a major role in that success and we are certain that will continue with him in the drivers seat.

Prior to joining the Express King spent one season as the Head Coach Mahoning Valley Ruff Ryderz and led them to the Conference Championship Game. 

Coach King spent two seasons pulling triple duties serving as the Head Coach, offensive and defensive coordinator of the WPA Kingz. 

Coach King spent one season as an assistant coach of the Clarion County Renegades (Division Champs) Coach got his start at the high school level coaching 6 seasons as a varsity assistant coach at Keystone High School 98-2002 (2004) Coach King is a graduate of Keystone High School where he was a 3 year letter winner in football, named captain by his teammates and coaches, named team MVP on defense and earned 1st team All Conference as a linebacker. Coach King played 1 season for the Clarion County Renegades where he helped lead them to the Division title from his defensive tackle position. 

Corey took over the helm from Mark Pilling who served as our head coach for 8 seasons before taking a new job out of state.

In his first game as our new head football coach, Coach King led us to the 2022 USA Bowl Summer Division National Championship Bowl Game with a 25-24 victory over the Iredell County Warriors (NC). We will look to remain perfect in Florida this January as we take on the Minneapolis Warriors in the USA Bowl Spring Division national Championship Game.
