Express sign OL-Nick Puntel

The Erie Express are pleased to announce the the signing of OL-Nick Puntel (Youngstown State University) for the 2023 season. Nick begins his first season with the Express and looks to earn a starting spot in the offensive line rotation.

This past season season we were crowned USA Bowl Summer Division National Champions, won our Division in the GDFL for the fourth year in a row and qualified for the GDFL National Playoffs for the seventh year in a row. In January of 2023 we headed to Daytona Beach, FL to face the Minneapolis Warriors in the USA Bowl Summer Division National Championship Game. (17-20 loss) The above mentioned team accolades have become the norm for the Express and we are hopeful that Nick can help us to maintain this level of play.

Nick is a graduate of McDonald, HS in McDonald Ohio where he was a standout offensive and defensive lineman for the Blue Devils. Nick later played briefly for Youngstown State University.

Nick saw his first action in an Express uniform last week in our pre season game with the Ohio Gladiators.

"Nick is new to the team but he has shown himself to be a true competitor. We liked what we say from him against the Gladiators. He has great footwork and size and we think he will be an impact player for us this season. We are blessed to have him on board and look forward to seeing him grow as a player this season"-Director of Operations Paul Pennington.
