Express fall short in defensive battle

by Erie Express Media

We wish to thank the Baltimore Lightning for a great clean and physical game. We have played them three times so far and all three games have been decided by a total of 8 points.

Your Erie Express traveled to Baltimore, Maryland this Saturday and came up 2 points short. Many new faces got an opportunity to perform Saturday and make a name for themselves. Some of our "home team" players may not be that anymore based on what our "road team" players have shown.

Neither teams offense was able to get much going but the Lightning found themselves with first and goal at the 4 after a pair of unsportsmanlike penalties on the Express defense gave them amazing field position. The defense held strong and on fourth and inches Jante Sherrod and a handful of others came up with the big stop to deny the lightning.

The Lightning would score the only points of the game the next play when they sacked newly acquired ATH Ejay Scott in the end zone for the safety.

The Express would get into the red zone several times late in the game but both times the end result was an interception in the end zone.

The Express fall to 0-1 while the Lightning take control of the Xtreme  North Division.

Erie is off this week but will be making the trip down to Washington  to face off against the Washington Bulldawgs on June 3. Game details will be posted once we have them.

Stay with us Express nation....we will be fine. 😉 GO EXPRESS!
