Erie Express are happy to announce the return of All-Pro RB-Shannon Jackson

The Erie Express are happy to announce the return of All-Pro RB-Shannon Jackson (Indiana University of PA) for the 2021 season. Jackson begins his second season with the Express and is a returning starter on offense.

In his first season as a member of the Express, Shannon made a huge impact on and off the field and played a major role in our third straight Conference Finals appearance. On the season Jackson finished with a team high 665 yards on 96 carries for an average of 6.9 yards per carry, in only 8 total games. Jackson also scored 9 rushing touchdowns and four 2 point conversions. Shannon finished second in the GDFL (regular season) with 615 yards. For his efforts, Shannon earned All-Pro status as a rookie.

"Shannon is an extremely powerful runner. He has great athletic ability and uses his size and power to wear down a defense. He is as humble as they come. He never feels the need to tell others about how good he is, instead he helps those around him to reach their full potential. Shannon had a huge impact on our overall team success last season and earned All-Pro status. We are expecting more of the same in 2021" -Director of Operations Paul Pennington.

Jackson graduated from Fairview High School as the Tigers all time leading rusher. He is ranked as one of the top 25 D10 all time rushers with 4,228 yards and 43 touchdowns. Shannon was named First Team All Region, District and State at the running back position. In addition to football Jackson also played basketball and lacrosse and was named 1st team All-District defense in lacrosse.

Shannon was honored with the Richard Arrington award from the Notre Dame club of Erie. This award acknowledges a players humbleness and leadership as an African American football player on and off the field.

Shannon played his college ball at Indiana University of PA. While there he had a career high 167 yards on 33 carries with a pair of TDs in a 28-14 victory over Clarion University. Shannon received IUP Athlete of the Week honors for that performance.
