Erie Express announce Corey King as new Head Football Coach

The Erie Express are pleased to announce Corey King as our new Head Football Coach. Coach King begins his third season with the Express. The past 2 seasons Coach King has served as our Assistant Head Coach and defensive coordinator. In the past two seasons we have finished the season with the #1 and #2 ranked defense in the league, an overall record of 21-2, 2 division championships, 2 conference finals appearances, a region championship and a National Championship. Coach King played a major role in that success and we are certain that will continue with him in the drivers seat. 

Prior to joining the Express King spent one season as the Head Coach Mahoning Valley Ruff Ryderz and led them to the Conference Championship Game. 

Coach King spent two seasons pulling triple duties serving as the Head Coach, offensive and defensive coordinator of the WPA Kingz.  

Coach King spent one season as an assistant coach of the Clarion County Renegades (Division Champs) Coach got his start at the high school level coaching 6 seasons as a varsity assistant coach at Keystone High School 98-2002 (2004) Coach King is a graduate of Keystone High School where he was a 3 year letter winner in football, named captain by his teammates and coaches, named team MVP on defense and earned 1st team All Conference as a linebacker. Coach King played 1 season for the Clarion County Renegades where he helped lead them to the Division title from his defensive tackle position.  

Corey takes over the helm from Mark Pilling who served as our head coach for 8 seasons before taking a new job out of state. "Corey has done an amazing job for us from the very start. He works extremely well with the other coaches, they game plan together and make the tough decisions that need to be made to give us the best chance at success. His commitment to the players and staff are exactly what you want in a head coach. He is an amazing husband and father first and foremost, the fact he is an amazing coach is just the cherry on top of the amazing person he is. We are blessed to have him lead us into the 2022 season and are looking forward to an amazing career as our new head coach"-Director of Operations Paul Pennington.
