by Erie Express Media

The Erie Express are happy to announce the return of All-Pro OL-Devonne Barnes (Indiana University of PA) for the 2022 season. Devonne begins his third season with the Express and is a returning starter on the offensive line.

Devonne played a major role in leading us two the 2021 GDFL National Championship as well as the 2022 USA Bowl Summer Division National Championship. For his efforts during the 2021 season Devonne was named GDFL All-Pro for the second time.

Barnes graduated from Cathedral Prep High School in Erie, PA. While there Barnes was a three year letter winner, twice named All-Region and earned All-State honors his Senior year. The Ramblers won the 2013 State Championship in part to Devonne's performance as an offensive lineman. Barnes followed up a stellar high school career by playing his college ball at Indiana University of PA. While there the Crimson Hawks qualified for the national playoffs making it all the way to the final four.

"For years our offensive line was a major concern for us. The past few years it has been one of our strongest areas and this is in part due to the play of Mr. Barnes. He is a pleasure to be around, works hard and accepts coaching. He never hesitates to help those around him to get better and enjoys the game. When you have guys who are playing well, having fun and unselfish good things happen. We are blessed to have him back on board and are expecting another great season from him in 2022"-Director of Operations Paul Pennington.
